Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
